Metal frameworks for construction
This segment is expected to satisfy approximately 45% of industry revenue in 2016-17. Products manufactured in this segment include structural metal frameworks like steel beams, roof trusses, bridges and girders for use in construction. Most of these products are cold-rolled structural shapes that come in standardised or generic shapes to meet specific British and EU standards. For example, there are guidelines that set out the range of dimensions and tensile strength of steel beams. Demand for products in this segment has expanded over the past five years as investment transport infrastructure and construction activity have grown in line with improving economic conditions.
