Market share concentration measures the extent to which major players dominate an industry. IBISWorld expects the four largest players in the industry to account for 7.6% of industry revenue in 2016-17, suggesting that concentration is low. Globally, the PCB manufacturing market is very fragmented and there are relatively few large-scale companies. The small UK market is itself highly fragmented, as is illustrated by the fact that 51.5% of industry establishments employed fewer than 10 people in 2016. Most small operators specialise in a limited number of product lines to serve niche markets. Larger companies are expected to expand their market shares over the five years through 2021-22, particularly in manufacturing relating to the military, health-care and aerospace industries.
