Industry Analysis & Industry Trends
The Lime and Plaster Manufacturing industry has fared relatively well in recent years despite fluctuating demand from key downstream markets. Processed lime and gypsum have a wide range of applications, including building materials, steel production, agriculture, paper and sugar production, and even waste management and dentistry. By far the largest source of demand for the industry's products is the construction sector, which uses lime and plaster both directly and indirectly by employing various building materials that incorporate the industry's products.
Fortunately, the industry was able to react quickly to falling demand from some markets by tapping new alternative markets... purchase to read more
Industry Report - Industry Products Chapter
This industry produces a range of lime- and gypsum-based plaster products. Official data on production and sales tends to be distorted because most players are vertically integrated.
Lime is produced in several forms, depending on the quality of raw material inputs and ultimate downstream application. The industry's lime products include quicklime, hydrated lime and slaked lime. Lime can be used in environmental applications like flue gas desulphurisation (FGD). The FGD process removes acidic gases like sulphur dioxides and hydrogen chloride from the exhaust gases emitted by power stations and other large-scale industrial plants. Lime can also be used to treat sludges, animal waste, waste water, drinking water and hazardous waste.
