Barriers to entry in the industry are relatively low. New entrants only require access to fruit, relatively skilled labour and the requisite brewing machinery and equipment. Capital expenses are high but not prohibitive for producing on a smaller scale. Many small producers have entered the industry in recent years as a result of this.
