The Oil & Fat Production industry has experienced solid growth during the five years through 2010-11. Early in the period, growth was driven by rising oil seed prices resulting from strong global demand for biodiesel, as well as demand for healthier cooking oils and food products. Growth weakened sharply following the financial crisis as the global price of oilseeds collapsed and recession hit domestic demand in downstream markets.
