Industry Analysis & Industry Trends
The Lime and Plaster Manufacturing industry is quite small by comparison with most UK manufacturing industries, but it plays an important role within the economy, supplying essential inputs into a broad range of downstream industrial, environmental, agricultural and construction markets.
Processed lime and gypsum is sold to downstream markets for use in a wide range of applications, including steel production, chemicals, agricultural applications, water filtration systems, paper and sugar production, building materials (notably plasterboard), animal husbandry and waste matter disposal. The market for lime products used for filtration of acidic gases and waste product has expanded in the past decade... purchase to read more
Industry Report - Industry Products Chapter
This industry produces a range of lime and gypsum-based plaster products used as inputs into many downstream markets. About 40% of industry revenue is generated from the sale of lime products and the balance represents the value of plaster sales. The vertically integrated nature of most of the players in this industry tends to distort official data on production and sales.
Much of the plaster produced by industry manufacturers is used in-house as an input to finished plaster building products such as plasterboard and cornice products, and coating compounds. Gypsum used in downstream plasterboard and plaster-based construction products (e.g. cornices) is also used in cement manufacture, and is widely used as an additive to soil... purchase to read more
